Job description

LAYC is hiring a Community Schools Coordinator (CSC) to support students and families enrolled at Cardozo Education Campus. CSC will work with school administrators and staff to improve student achievement, develop community partnerships and provide vital resources to address student needs. With the support of Director of Education, CSC will have an opportunity to develop strategies and facilitate vital services to the community.

LAYC/MMYC s mission is to empower a diverse population of youth to achieve a successful transition to adulthood, through multicultural, comprehensive, and innovative programs that address youths' social, academic, and career needs. To achieve that mission, LAYC/MMYC provides services and opportunities to approximately 5,000 individuals annually to support academic achievement, promote healthy behaviors, and guide youth toward successful adulthood. LAYC/MMYC also conducts advocacy and public policy work to broaden opportunities for youth.

LOCATION: Washington, DC

COMPENSATION: $50,000 - $55,000

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as LAYC s liaison with school administrators, students, and staff to ensure a quality partnership with the school.
  • Develop wrap-around resources necessary for youth s success including, but not limited to, health and fitness, nutrition, mental health, and youth leadership development.
  • Effectively work with a wide range of partners ranging from service providers, principals, funders, policy makers, and similar high-level stakeholders to communicate programmatic needs and guide and implement programming accordingly.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor student recruitment strategies and referral systems to be implemented for youth and their families in tandem with onsite LAYC Promotor (case manager).
  • Regular data collection and weekly data entry into LAYC s integrated data management system (ETO) to monitor outcomes and improve program quality.
  • Develop and manage program budget in accordance with funder and organizational requirements to ensure that all documentation is complete and in compliance with funder requirements.
  • Produce and submit reports that document program efforts as required by the funder.
  • Participate in Community School s coalitions and advocacy efforts including, but not limited to, crafting testimonies for City Council Hearings, participating in roundtable discussions, and other meetings to further advocacy goals and support for DC Community Schools
  • Enhance social media presence to promote programming and outreach.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor s degree or significant experience in youth development
  • Minimum 2 years of youth development experience
  • School-based experience
  • 40 hours per week, but flexible schedule, may include some weekend and evening events.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is required.
  • Excellent facilitation and training skills
  • Excellent time management and ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • The willingness and desire to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a variety of environments.
  • Complete criminal and child abuse/neglect clearances.
  • Flexible, energetic, positive individual with commitment to youth development in a high quality, respectful environment.
  • Ability to work well and communicate with culturally diverse populations.
  • LAYC/MMYC requires the COVID-19 vaccine of all its employees. You will be asked to provide proof of vaccination at the time of your interview and at your onboarding.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 10 lbs. May require the ability to travel locally and/or regionally.
