Research Writer

Reporting to the Senior Research Writer, as a part of the News & Media Team within University Communications, the Research Writer is responsible for identifying key research initiatives that illustrate strategic university points of excellence in the areas of science and research, developing a communications plan when warranted and utilizing the necessary communication tools (press releases, stories, social media posts, etc.) to promote them. Duties include but are not limited to: Identify and research newsworthy topics, including in the hard sciences; produce compelling content; and load content to the web management system and social media sites. Identify newsworthy research/science stories and pitch them to representatives of national, regional, and local media. Support the team in identifying and procuring photography and graphics to accompany stories.
