Digital Content Producer
Job description
Summary/Objective:This position's primary functions are to produce digital audio content assets that reflect Colonial Williamsburg's strategic plan and master interpretive plan, extending the Foundation's mission beyond onsite visitors. The Producer works with the Director and Executive Producer of Colonial Williamsburg Innovation Studios to implement the team's content strategy and the editorial calendar for its podcast(s). The Producer produces digital audio content on their own and with the assistance of digital audio assistant producers.Essential Functions:1. Serves in a production role or roles for various assigned projects in one or more of the following areas: podcasts, digital video, livestreams, digital student and teacher programs, and/or special projects. Serves as a co-host and audio production specialist for Ben Franklin's World podcast.2. Assists with developing a strong and diverse editorial calendar for digital audio and video projects, as assigned.3. Conducts historical research and provides fact-checking for historical accuracy on digital media programs.4. Provides quality control for assigned digital audio work to ensure consistent use of quality control guidelines, high-quality sound, and accurate historical information.5. Provides creative leadership in content development and visual and audio sound design. Works to maintain Colonial Williamsburg's standards for high-quality digital projects and historical accuracy.6. Collaborates with colleagues across the department, division, foundation, and enterprise, including coaching and teaching others about digital audio production when asked.7. Prepares interview road map and questions for interview guests. Interviews audio guests using Riverside.fm or equivalent recording service as assigned.8. Edits digital audio productions using Adobe Audition or equivalent DAW and editing software.9. Creates and writes scripts for digital audio and video projects, such as the intro and outro for podcast episodes. Writes show notes for digital media programs. Creates and copyedits episode transcripts. Develops and reads any host-read ads as requested by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Studio Director, or Marketing Director.10. Performs other duties related to the production, development, support, and promotion of digital content initiatives as assigned.Supervision to be Exercised:Direct: noneIndirect: Collaborates with Assistant Producer(s) and others, Oversees programming on a per-project basis, Directs crew, guests, and talent on assigned projects.Position Type (Regular/FT; Casual/PT)/Expected Hours of Work Per Week:Regular/FT/40 hours per weekRequired and Preferred Education and Experience: (Indicate education based on requirements that are job-related and consistent with business necessity and/or industry standards.)Required:Minimum of master's degree in history, education, communications, or related field. 3-5 years experience with industry-standard digital media creation and editing software. Experience with video/audio production and photography.Preferred:Doctoral degree in history, education, communications, or related field, or 5+ years' experience in creating digital experiences for historic sites and/or museums. Experience in managing, producing, and delivering digital learning assets.Qualifications: (List minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job successfully.)Experience in digital audio and/or video production.
